Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad is one of the largest affiliating universities in the state of Telangana. The quality of education in the colleges affiliated to JNTUH, thus reflect the quality of engineers from the state. It is therefore imperative that the university bears responsibility to ensure academic infrastructure and environment that promotes quality education. The Directorate of Affiliations & Academic Audit is established in the year 2009,primarily to monitor and regulate all the activities of the affiliated colleges including affiliation process, conducting meetings, monitoring, curbing anti ragging activities in the colleges, attending to any complaints received against affiliated colleges and plan for developmental programmes and any other activity related to the affiliated colleges under JNTU Hyderabad. With the ever increasing demand of students in taking up engineering education and increasing interest of private Managements in establishing the technical institutions, the university presently has 233 (including progressive closure) number of colleges affiliated to it, offering varied courses both at Under Graduate and Post Graduate levels, in Engineering, Pharmacy, Management etc., Greater awareness on the minimum standards expected of colleges for providing quality technical education and specially, availability of academic infrastructure for practical orientation has been prescribed in the University syllabus and curriculum. The role of university as a regulating body rests also in ensuring that the colleges are adequately equipped to implement the curriculum to achieve the desired quality of education, uniformly wherever the courses offered.

The Directorate of Affiliations & Academic Audit conducts a comprehensive and objective assessment of institutions in terms of norms and regulations laid down annually. Procedures and formats, enabling transparency and automation of affiliation process are adopted. The emphasis on infrastructure to support practical orientation of curriculum, accountability of institutions to the society, monitoring of institutions on a continuous basis, automation for faster processing, greater awareness of requirements and norms, opportunity to colleges for improvement of academic infrastructure are just a few of the modifications adopted towards University’s continuous efforts as a regulating body.

A separate portal has been launched in public domain for updating information of all the affiliated colleges by themselves from time to time which is authenticated by the Directorate of Affiliations & Academic Audit of the University.

The efforts in bringing out the regulations of the Affiliation will not only enhance the quality of infrastructure and education, but also the accountability of institutions and provide proper guidance to the prospective students.

The major activities in the Directorate of Affiliations & Academic Audit of the University are

  • Grant of Affiliation to Affiliated colleges
  • Issue of No objection Certificate for Introduction of New Courses / Closure of Course(s) / Closure of Institution(s) etc.,
  • Conducting Principal and faculty selections to the Affiliated Colleges.
  • Permission for College Attached Hostels.
  • Confirmation of E-pass Scholarships
  • Attending to any complaints received against affiliated colleges
