About School of IT, JNTUH
School of Information Technology has its inception in the year 2001. The School aims at offering Post Graduate courses with quality education primarily and also promotes research in the field of information technology and computational biology education. It emerged as a hub to meet IT needs of the University alongside software consultancy offered. State of art infrastructure with 24x7 Internet facility is provided to facilitate a conducive learning atmosphere to the students. M.Tech, MCA with different specializations like bioinformatics, computer networks and information security, computer science, software engineering and MSIT are the Post Graduate courses offered.
About the workshop
The workshop Recent trends in Drug Design hopes to bring together an array of eminent speakers from reputed organizations from India, Cheminformatics and Bioinformatics research is a hot topic in the biology field. The primary focus of the workshop is to highlight the recent trends, advances and future perspectives in the field of Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, drug design, Genomics and other related disciplines. The workshop includes plenary sessions, panel discussion that represent comprehensive chemical, biological and computational and research interests in the areas of natural products, drug repositioning and Genomics. No doubt, this seminar will certainly serve as a dais for exchange of innovative ideas and renowned experience of eminent scientists and research scholars. This seminar hopes to bring a good exposure on cheminformatics and drug design to researchers, faculty and students.

Drug design, also sometimes referred to as rational drug design, is the inventive process of finding new medications based on the knowledge of the biological target. A drug is most commonly a small organic molecule that activates or inhibits the function of biomolecules such as proteins which results in therapeutic benefit to the patient. In most basic sense, drug design involves design of small molecules that are complementary in shape and charge to the bimolecular target with whom they interact and will bind. In computational drug discovery we are using computational tools and softwares to simulate drug receptor interactions. In experimental based approach drugs were discovered through trial and error method.
